Pleasant Stay but could have been better

The location of hotel was in the rough area of Athens. Two of the driver advised us not to walk alone in that area so we took taxi to go to Main/ central area of Athens. The room was decent size but once you put luggage and other bits the room size felt bit cramped. I was hoping for the room size to be slightly bigger. They could have changed the buffet and menu of the breakfast every other day. For the guests like us who stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, to have the same breakfast was bit boring. Overall the stay was pleasant but could have been better.

Dear Francis J., We appreciate your loyalty and want to thank you for choosing the Novotel Athens hotel for your stay .We truly value your loyalty and apologize for any disappointment caused by the unavailability of the upgrade you wanted during your recent visit. As it is mentioned in our hotel's policy, upgrade is always given to our guests upon availability. As we can see in your reservation details, we did upgraded you to a higher room with balcony. The room type you had booked did not include balcony. Unfortunately, we could not upgrade you in an executive room, because our hotel was fully booked in the days of your reservation. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your understanding and hope that despite this, you were able to enjoy your stay with us. I give hotel 5 star. People make difference; staff extremely friendly and helpful. Little far away from center. Surrounding area was not very pleasant however we didn’t face any issues. Metro was not very close so recommended to use taxi or Uber.
